RESPONSIBLE SERVICE OF ALCOHOL


A ONE DAY WORKSHOP (in a class room environment) TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE NATIONALLY RECOGNISED UNIT OF COMPETENCY

Date: 16/7/2014    9.00am to 3.00pm - Cost: $75
Responsible practices must be undertaken wherever alcohol is served and sold, including where alcohol samples are served during on-site product tastings. This unit, therefore, applies to any workplace where alcohol is served and sold, including all types of hospitality venues, retail liquor outlets and wineries, breweries and distilleries.

In South Australia in order to serve and sell liquor you need to be registered with the SA Liquor Licensing Commission as a ‘Responsible Person’.  Part of this involves having successfully completed the unit SITHFAB201 Provide responsible service of alcohol
The unit incorporates the knowledge requirements, under the South Australian liquor licensing law, for employees engaged in the sale or service of alcohol. Topics dealt with include:
·                          Sell or serve alcohol responsibly.
·                          Assist customers to drink within appropriate limits.
·                          Assess alcohol affected customers and identify customers to whom sale or service must be refused.
·                          Refuse to provide alcohol where appropriate.

Qualifications Issued

Satisfactory completion of the workshop activities and the self-paced project will meet the competency requirements of the unit SITHFAB201

Provide responsible service of alcohol and successful participants will receive a Statement of Attainment.

 

TAELLN411 ADDRESS ADULT LANGUAGE, LITERACY AND NUMERACY SKILLS


Obtaining this unit will maintain the currency of your Certificate IV in Training and Assessment;

This is now being required by many RTO employers

Complete this LLN unit with a one day workshop and self-paced project through the DOME Association.
There has been a growing awareness in Australia that language, literacy and numeracy skills need to be addressed not only at school but also in the workplace and in vocational education and training. TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills will become a core unit of the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment in July 2014. The unit aims to improve the skills of trainers in providing the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to recognise the core language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) demands of training and assessment, to access relevant support resources and to tailor training and assessment to suit individual skill levels.

In the one day workshop and the self-paced project participants will deal with:

  • Determining LLN requirements of qualifications and units
  • Determining learners’ LLN skills and requirements
  • Accessing specialist assistance
  • Selecting and customising learning materials appropriate to LLN requirements
  • Applying learning support strategies to develop core LLN skills

New Wage Subsidy for Mature Age.

Lost in amongst the Federal Government Budget announcements is a new program to assist employers when hiring new staff over the age of 50.
It is called the Restart Wage Subsidy and can be viewed at www.employment.gov.au/restart-wage-subsidy
In summary a subsidy is available over 2 years to employers who hire an unemployed person over the age of 50 for more than 15 hours/week. The full subsidy of $10,000 is available if the person works for more than 30 hours/week, for between 15 and 29 hours/week the subsidy is paid on a pro rata basis. The subsidy is paid in instalments of 30% at 6 months, 30% at 12 months, 20% at 18 months and 20% at 24 months. An eligible job seeker must have been unemployed and receiving Centrelink benefits for at least 6 months. Applications are on line at the above website and through a Job Service Provider
